Helsinki Shipyard’s Supplier Code of Conduct

Helsinki Shipyard wants to build long-lasting supplier partnerships based on trust and good business practices throughout the entire chain.

Helsinki Shipyard requires its suppliers to comply with the following principles in their activities:

1. Law

1.1 The supplier complies with applicable local and international laws, regulations, and agreements.

2. Ethics

2.1 The supplier complies with labour legislation.

2.2 The supplier does not accept bribery or corruption.

3. Workforce

3.1. Human rights and discrimination

The supplier respects and supports human rights. In its activities, the supplier does not allow any kind of discrimination, harassment or bullying related to age, gender, religion, nationality, social status, political opinion or sexual orientation.

3.2. Salary and working conditions

The supplier does not use child or forced labour or human trafficking in any of its activities and does not accept them in its supply chain. The supplier pays all of its employees at least the minimum wage according to the law or applicable collective agreement. Working hours must comply with the requirements of laws or applicable collective agreements. The supplier complies with the applicable
work permit practices and employee qualification requirements. Supplier’s employees have the right to freedom of association as well as the right to form or join a trade union.

3.3. Occupational health and safety

The supplier commits to comply with both general and Helsinki Shipyard’s occupational safety rules and instructions and ensures the necessary training and guidance for its employees.

4. Environment

4.1 The supplier adheres to the laws and regulations related to environmental protection and ensures compliance with the relevant permits and terms.

4.2 The supplier aims to promote the efficient use of materials, raw materials, energy and natural resources, while minimizing waste and carbon footprint. The supplier aims to ensure the reduction and prevention of emissions. 

4.3 The supplier is responsible for cleanliness in such a way that the requirements related to safety and environmental protection are fulfilled.

5. Supply chain management and transparency

5.1 Helsinki Shipyard requires transparency from its suppliers throughout the entire supply chain. Helsinki Shipyard selects its suppliers through competitive bidding on equal terms and requires the same criteria from its suppliers in selecting their own partners. The code of conduct must comply with the requirements of Helsinki Shipyard.

5.2 The supplier may not chain deliveries without Helsinki Shipyard’s written consent. If consent is granted, it must be ensured that the suppliers and subcontractors used comply with the principles of this Code of Conduct all the way to the origin. Any violation of these principles must be reported to Helsinki Shipyard immediately.

5.3 Helsinki Shipyard has the right to conduct supervision to ensure compliance with the principles of this Code of Conduct.

5.4 Helsinki Shipyard’s suppliers in contractual relationships are obliged to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679). Any action that violates the regulation is considered a breach of contract, and the contracting party must compensate for the damage caused to Helsinki Shipyard.

In the contract between Helsinki Shipyard and the supplier, the supplier commits to complying with this Code of Conduct as well as other instructions and regulations provided in the contract. In the event of breach of this Code of Conduct, Helsinki Shipyard has the right to terminate the contract.
